Today I have a hard time having my expectations met. I made a list for your viewing pleasure.
-I expect that when I place a catering order to feed clients that will be visiting with me at lunch time that the food will come. That I will not have to call wondering why I did not get an invoice only to find out that the caterer is gone for a week and will not be placing my order.
-I expect that when it is my roommates turn to clean the bathroom she will do it because a) she respects the other roommates in the house, b) she respects that we live in a really old apartment with a bathroom that starts to reek if cleaning is not done in a timely manner, c) she has enough self respect that she doesn’t want the other roommates to have to remind her to get the job done a week later than it should have been.
-I expect that when I choose to move in with two adult 20-something women that they are able to control themselves enough to handle their lives and not use broken cars as reasons why they can’t do dishes or clean up afterthemselves. (If that one made you say “huh?” you and I are unfortunately in the same place.)
-I expect that said women know how to clean up after themselves, and will do it because they don’t like living in a pig sty.
-I expect that said women will follow all appropriate measures to stay safe, including locking the front door when they come home at night and then not tell me that I am being passive aggressive for leaving them a note reminding them AGAIN to lock the freaking door! (I left out “freaking” in the note.)
-I expect my boss to do his job and let me do mine and then not leave me nasty notes about how he took care of things for me, when those were the exact things that I was going to use to fill up my not-so-busy day the next day.
-I expect that when someone hires you to do a job that they will give you the tools that you need to be successful in the job and not wait 9+ months to still give you the exact list of duties that you should be performing. (Yeah still waiting on that one)
-I expect that when I am preparing for finals that everything else should go right in the world so that I don’t have to be bothered by it, even if that expectation is slightly irrational.
Adults can sure be funny about the way they refuse to behave like adults, eh?
Totally reminds me of the Taiwanese company I worked for. Many a moment I wanted to pull out all of my hair AND all of theirs.
