I am the type of person that always needs to have a project on the table. An idea for the next thing that I want to make is usually rattling around in my head. While doing general ed classes and taking time off of school to figure out what I really wanted to be when I grew up, I almost always had my sewing machine out, or my crochet needles stuck in something, or paint spewed across some surface. While I was in school and then while I was working in the design field I noticed that I rarely felt the need to pull out those projects. My mind was being challenged all day to come up with creative solutions to problems. I was thrived on that and was usually too exhausted to come up with any new projects at home. When a friend visited my apartment in San Francisco she said that she was surprised at how undesigned it was. The truth was I just didn’t have the time or energy to care about it and with very limited space I didn’t really want to spend the money trying to make it look good.
Now that I am not working in design I am finding that itch to create creeping back into my life. I am finding myself with many outlets to use the itch since that I have a whole house and a husband that is pretty open to anything. I have been doing a lot of cooking and baking and making large plans for our garden. I have also been caught sketching out ideas for my next sewing projects and planning out rooms of our house as you witnessed in my previous post.
My original intent with naming my blog “stacydesigns” was to actually post things that I designed, things that inspired me, things that I made, and projects that I got to have a hand in at work. I want to get back to using this space little more to record some of those ideas. Just so you know, you will probably be seeing a little more of that here.
Yay! I love seeing what people create. It helps inspire me.
You should frame that AMAZING watercolor of the barn that you did for school several years ago and hang it in one of your rooms. It is SO beautiful. I would LOVE to have that in my house. I would love to see what it looks like framed. You should take some of your artwork and frame it and hang it up like I did with Carrie’s. It is so cool to have your own artwork in the house
