January-Spent New Years newly engaged with James in New Mexico meeting his closest family friends. Came to Texas for the first time to see where we would be starting our married life.
Febuary– Closed up life in San Francisco. Hosted mom and dad for Valentine’s weekend. Spent the month doing all of my favorite San Francisco things one more time. Sent all of my earthly possesions on a truck to Texas.
March- Lived up my last single month at the parent’s house. Filled the time with choosing flowers, decorations, cake flavors, etc. Did my first 25 hour drive by myself. Married James!
April- Started the month off on our honeymoon in Mexico. Enjoyed playing and sleeping and eating and not having to plan anything. Learned how hard it is to find a new doctor in a small town. Consequently, made a trip to the ER. Got to know my new stomping grounds. Got lost a lot. Unpacked a lot. Started working with Young Women at church.
May- Started sweating. Did a lot of unsuccessful job hunting. Weekly dates with our lawn and garden. Got pretty creative in the kitchen while trying out all of our new wedding toys. More unpacking, sorting and organizing.
June- Turned 27. Did ALOT more job hunting. James took me to San Antonio to see Wicked for my birthday. Andrea came to visit and we spent time lounging around and talking too much.
July- Gave gardening a try in our new garden box that James built for my birthday. More job hunting. A visit from the parents. Visited every major attraction in the Houston area with them. Humidity!
August- Still sweating in the humidity. Contemplated moving to a nudist colony, but realized that the sunscreen would cost too much.
September- FINALLY EMPLOYED! Worked on figuring out the new schedule and working in a completely different industry.
October- Trip to Canada, Michigan and New York. Enjoyed fall colors, meeting James mission friends and eating sushi. Started dreaming of one day moving to an area that is cooler and has seasons.
November- Sick, sick, sick. Trip to ER, trip to Urgent Care, lots of prescription medication. Got a newer, better job. James’ aunts came for a 10 day visit for Thanksgiving. Hosted 18 people for Thanksgiving dinner. Grateful for a big kitchen with lots of pretty cooking tools.
December- Surprise visit from Mike with trip to Brenham to sample ice cream and meet up with Uncle Jack. Worked on decorating house for Christmas. Cursed once or twice while making presents to mail out (not) on time. Vowed to do better next year. Christmas Eve with friends at their house. Christmas at home just the two of us.
All in all, it was a very good year. Change and adaptation became the theme. I have really enjoyed having James as my partner in crime for it all. I can hardly wait to see what next year will bring.
“Happy New Year” to James and Stacy!!!!!!! 😮
It will get better and better as the years go by, I’m certain!
